Sandi Shilhanek | Holiday Wish List Reading
Just because I told you I feel like I’m in a reading slump doesn’t mean I don’t eagerly check Amazon each week to see what titles have been released for my Kindle. My wish list is growing by leaps and bounds, and unless I suddenly decide to not only play the lottery but also win it will most likely continue to grow.
So, as I scan this list I think to myself which book are you most looking forward to? Well, that’s easy the ones I’m really looking forward to are the upcoming Virgin River books by Robyn Carr. However, I’m sure you’re most tired of me being all fan girlish over Ms. Carr, so it’s time to see whom else is on the list and who else has me totally excited to be reading again.
As it turns out I have two wish lists. One is my I want these titles that are released list, and one is my I want these titles that are upcoming list. From my released list title I am most anxious to own Silver Bells an anthology, Home for the Holiday by Lisa Plumley, and a McKettrick Christmas by Linda Lael Miller.
So it appears that I’m quite anxious to help myself into the holiday spirit by getting lost in some good reads. What is on your wish list? Are you like me and have a list of released titles, and a list of upcoming titles? What makes you move a book from the wish list to the TBR pile?

Currently I have just one book on my wish list that I hope to get shortly. It's the Lisa Kleypas Wallflower holiday release. But looking forward to the new year there is just one the J D Robb PROMISES IN DEATH (2/09), both are hardcover, which is while they are on my wish list.

Hi Sandi! I'm glad you're enjoying your Kindle. I got mine recently and love it. I'm in the midst of reading ICE BLUE.
I have a wish list but its a mish-mash of everything I want. Old and new. Things that just grab my attention and things that people suggest. I keep hearing about the Robyn Carr books so now I'm going to have to add her to my need to check out and most likely buy list. When it comes from moving from wish list to TBB or TBR its all a mood thing. There are a bunch of books that I really want to read but I a little gun shy.
Hi Sandi:
My Wish List is long and varied. As with many, my TBR is huge and varied too. So I am trying very hard not to add any more to the TBR at the moment.
And, yes my Wish List is a mixture of books from author's back lists and upcoming releases.
Books are my addiction, but it is a good one. :)
Regards
Lea
My wishlist is tooooooo long. I have a spiral bound book I carry at all times with me with books about to be released, or released or older titles I need... But I'll tell you my "most" wanted books:
DEAD AFTER DARK, an anthology
NIGHT SHADOW by Cherry Adair
SLIPPERY WHEN WET by Kimberly Raye
A STONE CREEK CHRISTMAS by LLM
MCKETTRICK CHRITMAS by LLM
HEATING UP THE HOLIDAYS an anthology
REDEEMING GABRIEL by Elizabeth White
TALL, DARK, and KITLED by Allie MacKay
Those are just a few of my MUST haves this holiday season. DH got me a couple last night but I'm still hunting for SANTA'S CHRISTMAS PRAYER.
hugs,
WendyK
I have various wishlists at different online stores and most are backlist books with some upcoming books. I think one book I'm looking forward to is Stranger by Megan Hart in January from Spice. I really liked Dan and Elle in Dirty and Reason Enough and since Stranger has Dan's brother as the H I'm hoping to catch a glimpse of Elle and Dan.
As for moving books from wishlist to TBR, there may be a few factors here 1) The author, 2)if book is part of series 3) the book is on sale(I can't resist a sale. LOL)
I've gotten very picky over the years, which has narrowed my choices of books. So most everything on my wish list eventually ends up in my TBR. I keep both released and upcoming in one list.
The items that wait the longest are my audiobook wishlist, and wait the shortest are my favorite authors. I definitely buy by author, not storyline.
I probably should start a list. I always mean too, but it never seems to happen. But a few books that would be on the list are The Pagan Stone by Nora, Salvation in Death (when it comes out in pb), Plum Spooky by Janet Evanovich, and Cross Country by James Patterson. I have no doubt there will be a few more to put on that list sooner instead of later too.
I don't have so much a Wish List as a To Be Bought List! There are a number of authors whose books I will automatically purchase upon release. The rest of the books on my TBB I purchase when I know I'll have a little extra time to read them. My automatic purchase list is on the large side! :)
I seem to be in a reading slump too. I got 4 books from Amazon and I was so excited. I was disappointed in the first two I read.
With my wish list I have them listed by the month when they are being published.
I don't really have a wishlist but
mostly a reserve list at the library...lol I just wish I could read a lot faster than I do..
I have three Christmas books on my wish list, I am waiting for, McKettrick Christmas, Wallflower Christmas and A Stone Creek Christmas to hit my door. As well as the fourth book in the Magnaolia series by Sherryl Woods. I have a whole lot of other books on my TBR list, but I want these books to come before the holidays are over.
I've been asked to write a wish list of books this year. So I have to sit down and think about what I want.
What a great idea for this time of year.
There are a lot of upcoming books I'm looking forward to reading. Out already are books by Roxanne St. Claire & Cindy Gerard for starters! I love books with Christmas stories but don't have any new ones yet. I have A Cedar Cove Christmas requested at the library. I'm just hoping my name comes up before Christmas, the list is long! A lot of my favorite authors have books coming out soon or after the first of the year. My list is never completed!
Livia, do you buy hardcovers, get them for presents, or check them out of the library? That's one of the reasons I love my Kindle...discounted hardcover books!
Beth, I hope you use your kindle a lot! Do you have a TBR on it? Naturally mine does!
Lea, I figure there are a lot worse addictions than books. Good luck in whittling down the TBR!
Wendy, I don't think I've heard of Santa's Christmas Prayer. Who wrote that?
Christa, I'm glad you stopped by, but you reminded me I forgot to put the Hart book on my wishlist! I don't really need to keep adding to the wishlsit or the TBR!
Tina, I don't really have an audio wishilst. I tend to use my audible credits as they come and to check out books from the library audio collection as fast as I can. At the moment the library has to go on hold, because my player is full. Thankfully my audible account is tied to my IPOD and I have plenty of space there!
Amanda, I'm saving an audible credit for The Pagan Stone. I can't wait!
Joyce, sorry to hear that books were disappointing. There's nothing worse than anticipating an order and then being disappointed!
Qwill how many books do you think you'll buy at one time?
Joy, do you get special privilieges working at the library, like going to the head of the hold list?
Kathleen, I really enjoyed Welcome To Serenity, I don't think you'll be disappointed!
Julie, I hope Santa brings them all to you! Are you thinking of asking for an e-reader too?
Donna, do you have to read Christmas stories only during the holiday season?
Thank you for all the great comments!
Sandi,
Sorry to be late in replying to your great post! I have three stacks of TBR books on my nightstand, an underbed storage box full of TBR books of lower priority and a cart full of books at Amazon - that's my wish list! If only I would get an Amazon gift cert. for Christmas, I could transfer some books from the cart to my nightstand stacks!!
