SANDI SHILHANEK | Stepping Out Of March
This is the first weekend of April, so that means it’s time to tell you some of what I read in March. I can’t believe it but I managed to read eleven books in March, and listen to 3 audios. So here’s three books that struck me for one reason or another…
I read the debut novel from author Kimberly Fisk, Lake Magic. I bought this book because I liked the cover, the blurb sounded good, and the topper…it had a cover quote from a favorite author, Susan Wiggs. When I finished Lake Magic I knew I had a new author to be looking for, and would recommend this title to one and all.
I also was surprised by the fact that I read Big Girl by Danielle Steel, and overall enjoyed it. It didn’t take long for some of the things that annoy me in Steel’s work to come forward, but if you could ignore that, and concentrate on the story and lesson that was within the pages Big Girlbecomes a book that has a good lesson about comparing siblings, and how it can affect them long term in a variety of ways. If you are or were a Steel fan this might be one to check into.
I also read Hard To Hold by Stephanie Tyler. I had heard really good things about this title, and since it was on my kindle I thought why not. Unfortunately I would have to say this didn’t quite do it for me, but I have the second title in the series, and am willing to try again, because you never know…it might have been my mood and not the book.
In audio I listened to Burn by Linda Howard, Ain’t She Sweet by Susan Elizabeth Phillips, and Mine Are Spectacular by Janice Kaplan and Linda Schnurnberger. Of the three I have to say I enjoyed them all, but if I had to pick a least favorite it would be Burn.
I failed to meet my goal of reading the DFW Tea readers author for the month who was Shelly Laurenston, or to read the challenge word for my yahoo group which was wind.
How was your month? Did you discover a treasure? Hopefully there wasn’t a dud, but if there was are you willing to tell us?
Until next week happy page turning.
